Perimenopause library · Safety
What this library, and this app, cannot tell you
ClearDay is an educational tracker. The research behind these articles is real. It still does not turn the app into a clinic.
This library cannot tell you which STRAW stage you are in. Staging uses a bleeding history a clinician can interpret, not a streak of log entries.
It cannot diagnose perimenopause, menopause, depression, anemia, thyroid disease, or anything else from symptoms or from a single hormone value. The hormone papers are explicit: no validated cutpoint predicts the final menstrual period for an individual.
It cannot say how long your hot flashes, sleep disruption, or mood changes will last. SWAN reports medians and trajectories for groups.
It cannot say whether you should start, skip, or stop hormone therapy, or any nonhormone option. NAMS statements are for clinicians to apply to a whole history, including contraindications this app does not collect.
It cannot decide whether a bleeding change is “normal for the transition” or a reason to investigate. Heavy bleeding, bleeding after twelve months without a period, and bleeding after sex are clinical flags.
It cannot replace emergency care. Chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, thoughts of self-harm, fainting, or soaking through protection hour after hour are not education problems.
What the library can do is give you language, time ranges from cohorts, and questions worth asking. Bring those to a qualified clinician. That is the whole product boundary, restated as a list so it is hard to miss.
What this article cannot tell you
- Any diagnosis.
- Any prescription or treatment plan.
- Any personal prognosis.
Questions worth taking to a clinician
- Which of my current symptoms should be investigated rather than attributed to the transition?
- What would make you want to see me sooner than the next routine visit?
